It’s a great pleasure for us that Škoda Finland is the main partner of the Europe Class World Championship sailing here in Hanko. Environmental issues and the wellbeing of the sea are close to the sailors’ hearts. What similarities are there between Škoda Finland, the Europe Class sailors, and Europe Class sailing?
“Sailing is as classic a sport as it gets. It operates on nature’s terms and respects it, yet it also utilises it. It’s an incredibly magnificent sport! Now that we at Škoda have our first fully electric car, we believe we are an extremely suitable partner for this sailing event. The Europe -dinghy class is also an excellent match, as we have been looking for good ways to support young people in their hobbies and in advancing in such a way that they can fulfil their dreams. In Finland, sailing is a sport that perhaps needs a bit more visibility. If we, as a partner, can bring more visibility to sailing, it is truly a great thing.”
There are currently many Škoda Enyaq cars on display here at HSF harbor. In your opinion, what makes it the winning choice for sailors in Finland?
“I encourage everyone to test drive a Škoda. That’s the best way to find out. Škoda is a wonderful car. The fully electric Škoda Enyaq is completely silent. It is also completely emission-free, making it an excellent choice for sailors.”
Here in Hanko, 100 sailors from various European countries are competing over two weeks in the Open Week and World Championship. What message would you like to send to them?
“I want to wish every sailor the most successful sailings possible, enjoyable sailing, good winds, and above all, personal success in reaching own goals. I would also like to point out that Hanko holds a special significance for Škoda Finland. All Škodas come to Finland through the Port of Hanko. From here, they are then delivered to customers. This is a great opportunity for us in Škoda Finland, to be involved, and especially here in Hanko.”
